What Microsoft Advertising does
Microsoft Advertising sells search advertising on Bing (and partner engines such as DuckDuckGo and Yahoo that use Bing results), ads inside Copilot answers, and display and video ads on MSN, Outlook, Xbox and partner sites.
After buying Xandr in 2022, Microsoft briefly ran a full programmatic stack, but in 2025 it announced the closure of its Xandr Invest DSP (shut by February 2026) to focus on AI-driven ad products, keeping its Curate and Monetize tools for publishers.
How it makes money
Advertisers pay per click on search and Copilot placements and per impression for display, video and native ads; revenue is reported within Microsoft's search and news advertising line.
Where it meets invalid traffic
Filters invalid clicks on search and issues credits for detected click fraud; it also applies traffic-quality controls on partner syndication.
