Google Ads Data Manager to Drop Hashed Customer Data Requirement

· 1h ago · Originally reported by PPC Land

Starting November 16, Google Ads Data Manager will no longer require advertisers to hash customer data using SHA-256 for Customer Match and enhanced conversions uploads, moving instead to encryption. The fate of previously hashed files has not been clarified.

Why it matters

This change affects how advertisers upload and protect customer data, potentially simplifying workflows and impacting data privacy practices.

Explain it like I’m new here

It's like Google saying you don't have to scramble your friend's phone number before giving it to them—they'll keep it safe another way.
