What Media.net does

Media.net runs contextual advertising for publishers, most famously the Yahoo-Bing contextual ad network, which places text and display ads related to page content. It also offers header bidding and SSP services.

Founded by Divyank Turakhia, it was sold in 2016 to a Chinese consortium for a reported $900 million, and has major engineering operations in India.

How it makes money

Revenue share on ads placed on publisher sites.

Where it meets invalid traffic

Contextual search-style ads are exposed to search arbitrage and click fraud, which it filters for its advertiser partners.
