VAB Estimates Nearly $1 Billion in US Ad Spend Lost to AI-Generated Low-Quality Content
· 1h ago · Originally reported by PPC Land
The Video Advertising Bureau (VAB) has reported that up to $978.7 million in US ad dollars were spent on AI-generated low-quality content, sometimes called 'AI slop.' The report also highlights that bad bots accounted for 40% of 2025 web traffic and US consumers lost $2.1 billion to social media scams.
Why it matters
This matters because advertisers risk wasting significant budgets on fraudulent or low-quality inventory, undermining campaign effectiveness and trust in digital advertising.
Explain it like I’m new here
It's like paying for ads on fake or junky websites made by robots, so your money doesn't reach real people.
