What Yandex does
Yandex is Russia's main search engine and runs ride-hailing, maps, e-commerce and streaming. Its ad network, Yandex Direct, sells search and display ads across its services and partner sites.
After Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the group was split in 2024: the Russian business was sold to Russian investors and now trades on the Moscow Exchange, while the former Dutch parent became Nebius Group, an AI infrastructure company listed on Nasdaq. The two no longer share ownership.
How it makes money
Search and portal advertising through Yandex Direct, plus ride-hailing, e-commerce and subscription services.
Where it meets invalid traffic
