Does Google Ads refund invalid clicks?

Yes. Google Ads says it automatically filters many invalid clicks before you are charged, and you can see them in the "invalid clicks" columns. If invalid clicks slip through and Google later identifies them, it issues credits to your account. Advertisers can also request an investigation through Google's invalid click contact form if they suspect fraud.

Short answer · AdTech Sumo

Google defines an invalid click broadly: accidental double-clicks, automated bot traffic, and manually driven click fraud. Most filtering happens in real time. Credits that result from later investigations usually appear as "invalid activity" adjustments on billing statements.

Independent click-fraud tools sometimes flag more clicks than Google credits, because they use different definitions and cannot see Google's internal signals. Use your own data (IP clusters, conversion gaps, placement reports) to support claims, and reduce exposure by reviewing Search Partners and Display placements, where low-quality traffic is more common than on Google Search itself.
