What is search arbitrage?

Search arbitrage is buying cheap traffic, often from social or native ads, and sending visitors to pages that show search-style ad results, earning a share of the search ad revenue when they click. The arbitrageur profits if search ad earnings exceed traffic costs. It is permitted in some forms but prone to low-quality pages and misleading user flows.

Short answer · AdTech Sumo

Search arbitrage typically uses Google AdSense for Search or similar syndication feeds with "related search" pages. Advertisers whose search ads appear on these partner sites can pay search prices for less intentional clicks.

Platforms have tightened policies on the practice, and advertisers can limit exposure by reviewing search partner performance and excluding syndication where it underperforms. It is a cousin of display traffic arbitrage and made-for-advertising sites.
